This page will be used to track my progress towards the 2015 goals. Those goals are:
How status is calculated:
- Green: No worries at this time meeting the goal, based on actual and planned metrics. Or, goal is less than or equal to 2% of target.
- Yellow: Some worry about achieving the goal, planned budget shows goal will not be met. Or, amount projected is less than or equal to 5% of target.
- Red: Goal is at risk for being met. Planned budget shows major changes needed for goal to be met. Or, amount projected exceeds 5% of target.
2015 Year-End Review:
Overall, I’m pretty happy with what setting goals overall transpired into. This was my first year writing financial goals and trying to track to it on a monthly basis.
I learned that I want to write goals that don’t hurt my strategic contributions to investments. As well as write them in a way that allows me to use by Budget and Expense tracker to automatically update the goal. For a while, I was manually updating the page, which got a bit tedious and prone to error.
I also learned I wanted to set some metrics around what a green, yellow, or red goal means. When I started, I used my judgement to determine the value. After a while, I realized I could use my planned amount and percent thresholds to determine the status, which makes things a lot less judgmental. This is going to be incorporated into most, if not all, future goals.
