This page is used to track my net worth updates, going back to the beginning. This will be updated monthly. Net worth is tracked by using GnuCash and PersonalCapital.com.
Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll see included:
Assets:
- Cash – money in the bank
- Brokerage – personal taxable investments
- Retirement – 401(k) and Roth IRA
- Pre-paid expenses – car insurance, homeowner’s insurance, and similar things which I pay in advance
- House Estimated Value – via Zillow or other sources
Liabilities
- Credit Cards – the current balance, however this is paid in full before the due date
- Mortgage – the remaining principal balance of my house
- Property Taxes – the current liability of property taxes (calculated by using last year’s bill)
What’s NOT included:
- Vehicle Estimated Value – since this depreciates and I don’t expect it to be worth much when I sell it
